Ka Lok Wong(Steve)

I’m a macroeconomist (Associate Economic Affairs Officer) at the United Nations Economic Commission for Africa (UNECA) in Addis Ababa, working on growth, fiscal, and debt issues across the continent.

I completed my PhD in International Economics at the Geneva Graduate Institute.

My research examines sovereign financing, currency risk, and fiscal outcomes, with a focus on African and emerging-market economies. I combine original datasets, including the African Debt Database, with empirical analysis to understand governments’ borrowing choices and their responses to economic shocks.

This website started as a side project during my PhD to keep old folders and half-finished ideas in one place. If anything here is useful for your own work, be it data source(s) or code, feel free to use it.
